I am a long time fan of pussy bow blouses, I have been wearing them in an office setting for several years now and have always felt they add a little extra sexy feminine polish to an outfit. More recently however I have been sneaking these pieces into my daily wardrobe. I picked this Zimmermann blouse up on eBay in a very lucky last minute bid and I am so pleased with it, I had actually seen it and loved it in store a month prior, but couldn’t quite bring myself to pay $395 for it, for under $100 however I thought it was a steal.
I find the soft floaty collections from Chloé and the chic seventies glamour of celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe incredibly lust-worthy and inspiring. The style of this particular pussy bow blouse is so beautiful and feminine, its almost like a Winter romantic style which I just love about it. The tiny dove motif is such a gorgeous touch – thank you Zimmermann!!
Although I love buying and wearing designer pieces, while I do seem to be able to justify the price of a Chloé bag or Aquazurra pumps, I find it harder to spend at that level when it comes to clothing. I generally like to make quite classic bag and shoe purchases and then throw in trend pieces with clothing and costume jewellery. This is where I am a big fan of high street shops. I have seen recently (and purchased) some fabulous pussy’s bow blouses from Witchery, Me + Em, Top Shop, Zara and even ASOS. I generally look for a good quality floaty fabric like pure silk or a Silk blend when buying these as it behaves better than other fabrics and really lends itself to the style of the top. You want slinky or floaty movement in your fabric for this style.
In the office I love this style with a pencil skirt or my lace trimmed culottes, as it continues the prim and proper polished vibe, but outside of that setting I like to dress them down and contrast with denim. I like to embrace a real seventies vibe and team one with flared jeans, a fur vest and a felt hat or a more modern twist like this which is such an easy way to transition it into your existing wardrobe with a basic skinny jean and ankle boots. I love it with this Saint Laurent fringed bucket bag because I feel it gives a clever nod to the seventies boho vibe. I would love to hear how you style yours.
