Ruffles have been a massive trend this year and I have absolutely loved it, so girly and fun! Much to my delight by the looks of the current Autumn/Winter collections from NYFW, LFW & MFW I would say they aren’t going anywhere just yet – Yayyyy!
Being that it was such a heavy trend I obviously wanted some ruffle action in my own life but didn’t really wish to go broke committing to it. So I shopped most of my ruffles on the high street from places like Zara and H&M I found this particular sweater from Zara for like $49 which I was not at all unhappy about, it is so soft and snuggly and has been the perfect little sweater to throw on in cool weather. With that said as soon as Melbourne does decide to turn up the sunshine, I will definitely be packing my ruffled knitwear safely away ready for next Autumn!
I love mixing my luxury pieces with old pieces and high-street and this outfit is a perfect example of that. As I mentioned this sweater was from Zara and was under $50, the boots were also a Zara find but they actually sold out (while I took too long to decide on them) so I ended up tracking them down on eBay from someone in the UK (unworn) for about $75 which was much less than their retail price so I was actually pretty chuffed the jeans are from Paige Denim so not overly cheap but I like to stalk my denim and find it on sale either online overseas or in local stores here – DJs reduce denim so heavily throughout the year they are worth watching. The bag, well the bag is my luxury item, the Celine Belt Bag. I love this bag! It is so light, its big, but not too big, the leather is like butter its so smooth and soft sometimes I catch myself just stroking her ♥ I have been wearing this bag and boot combo non-stop for like a year now and I still love it just as much as I did when I first got them both.
I feel like by having a couple of well chosen high end pieces in your armoury you can very quickly and easily elevate an otherwise very simple outfit. On that note I would say I think I get the most mileage out of my designer bags and sunglasses. I have soo many designer heels but my bags get a lot more wear and sunglasses are a no-brainer. I am now trying to buy more luxe flat shoes and ankle boots as it turns out after a week in stilettos at work, all I want on the weekend is great flats and comfy boots… a lesson for me to shop more items that suit my lifestyle.
